Tour of Shaw House
The story of Shaw House begins with the Dolman family, and their ambitions to move from industry into the realms of the landed gentry. They are thought to have originally come from Pocklington in Yorkshire, settling in Newbury in the 15th century. Shaw House is famous for its reputation as Kings Charles I’s headquarters during the Second Battle of Newbury, located at Shaw, on the north-eastern outskirts of Newbury in Berkshire.
